June's DVLA auction was an online event that ran from Wednesday 17th June to Tuesday 23rd June 2026.
As always, prices quoted in this report include fees and taxes.
June's Top 5
Top of June's rankings was BEA 5T, which sold for £137,424. This was a great word plate that spelt 'Beast' perfectly and which was, in our opinion, worth every penny of its substantial hammer price.

AVI 1 took second place at £112,568. A nice number-1 plate and a perfect name plate for Avi or Avil. More number-1 registrations followed, with KSK 1 (£101,444) in third place and 1 WHD in fourth place with a total price of £41,189.

Rounding off the top five was 505 O, the first of this month's 'O' plates which sold for £39,026. 505 O demonstrated the continuing popularity of 'O' registration numbers at the DVLA auctions. Last month's auction saw 57 O achieve the highest price at £84,140, and that was just one of many occasions on which an 'O' plate has taken the top spot.
Although our top five is complete, this may be a good point to mention 4000 O, which came seventh in the price rankings at £32,500. 4000 O is, of course, another 'O' number but it is also an example of the character repetition that has proved to be another conspicuous feature in auction sales. When rendered in the official number plate typeface, the characters for the letter O and the digit zero are identical, thus enhancing the eye-catching repetition.
Words
After BEA 5T which we saw at number one in the price rankings, the best performing word number this month was CAK 3X (Cake X) with an all-in price of £21,599. DOU 9H (£13,330) would make a nice plate for a baker's delivery van, or for the car of an entrepreneur out to make money.
Once again, we raised an eyebrow to see yet another 'Gun' registration amongst the lots. 18 GUN sold for £13,033. As we've observed in the past, with DVLA's record of withholding combinations that could be seen as references to crime and violence, 'Gun' number plates still surprise us a little.
WRA 7H (Wrath), at £12,452, is another 'perfect' spelling, but we can't help wondering who would want it on their number plate. It feels like the kind of word one associates with the sermons of passionate preachers who warn sinners about the dangers of their ways.
Not such a flawless spelling, but B80 SSS (£9,980) is still a recognisable representation of 'Boss'. 9 OOF is a perfect 'goof' plate for £9,610 but, again, we're not sure who would choose that as their private registration.
Names
June saw several very good name registrations go under the hammer. HAN 5H (Hans H) sold for £24,689, while 157 NGH at £23,082 was another offering from the seemingly never-ending supply of combinations spelling the name 'Singh'. A DVLA auction without a 'Singh' plate in the listings is a rare thing. Other 'Singh' numbers in this auction were J751 NGH (£7,138) and DY51 NGH (£7,014).
AMM 111R (£17,644) was a bit of a paradox. Despite having three superfluous characters, visually it's a great 'Amir' plate, instantly readable and recognisable. A really good example of how even a slight misspelling can make a nice name registration a little more affordable.
Other notable name combinations included AYM 5N (Ayman / Aymen) at £16,408, HOU 5H (Hough) at £15,666, BON 113E (Bonnie) at £14,912, SOP 117A (Sophia) at £12,947 and LOU 17E (Louie) at £10,623.
Amongst the best bargains were surely RU25 ELL (Russell) which was snapped up for just £7,644, and CHA 271E (Charlie) at £6,890.
Cars
Obvious car-related registrations were, perhaps, less of a feature in June's sale than they have been at others. That said, as always, Porsche owners were offered a selection from yet another apparently inexhaustible supply - that of 911 numbers.
This month the '911' lots included 911 OUT (£25,789), 911 LB (£18,632), 911 RSP (£7,533), 911 SHC (£4,505), GAS 911S (£4,171) and P911 GWR (£1,625).
Aesthetic
Earlier in this report, we noted the popularity of 'O' registrations, and that of registrations that feature character repetition. Both those themes combined in several of this month's numbers: 4440 OO (£8,732), OO75 OOO (£4,443), E500 OOO (£3,244) and J70 OOO (£2,218). They may convey no obvious meaning but they are both eye-catching and intriguing. Other repetitive, but shorter, combinations were 33 XXX (£7,632) and VVV 8V (£6,940).
LFC 21X, which sold for £9,758, was arguably the most obvious potentially football-related combination. It would make a great team with an avid Liverpool supporter - perhaps as a 21st birthday present.
L375 SEE (£2,688) could have been included under the 'Words' heading, but it deserves special mention in its own right. A phrase rather than one word, but once you read it as 'Let's see', you simply can't unsee it!
