Today is Star Wars Day and we mark it by taking a closer look at how it came about and who other than Mr Kenobi spoke those famous words.

It seems that technology these days is rushed to market with a lot of hype and raised expectations. It also seems that the reality doesn't always live up to the elevated hopes of eager consumers.

On Saturday 8th April, a charity auction in Dubai achieved yet another price record for our friends in Western Asia. The registration number P 7 sold for Dh55 million in Emirati currency, which is over £12 million sterling.

When a journalist writing about the proposed auction of the Scottish private plate HS 0 asked us to estimate what price the plate could achieve, it led us to consider single and double-digit registrations that were created specially for use by local authorities and the issues surrounding their sale.

For many years, the registrations XVN 1 and XVN 1K have been owned by Scarborough Council in Yorkshire.
