1 BTC: The crypto-themed number plate!

1 BTC

Cryptocurrencies have been around for a while and started gaining attention in 2009. Within the last decade, they've exploded in popularity and have become more attractive. In particular, Bitcoin is currently the best known and most popular cryptocurrency. The virtual currency's value increased exponentially by 1200% between Mar 2020 and Mar 2021. Yet, there can be significant surges and dips in the world of cryptocurrency. It is certainly a risky endeavour for all sorts of investors.

Investors looking for stable opportunities

In a market that has seen Bitcoin drop dramatically since hitting its all-time high. Many investors are looking for more stable opportunities. Unlike most cryptocurrencies, number plates represent a less volatile investment. In fact, nine out of the ten most expensive UK number plates were actually purchased after the start of the economic crisis in 2008. Although private registrations were once viewed as an exclusive luxury, they have since become very popular with the wider public. The majority of private number plates sold contain a name or personal initials. This can be attributed to their ability to add a personal touch to any vehicle while being an expression of individuality.

Are personal plates more desirable?

Older dateless number plates depicting a name or word using a few characters are more desirable to buyers. In fact, cryptocurrency plates already have a history of being sold for high-ticket prices. For example, BTC 500X was sold for over £65,000 at a DVLA auction in 2021. While 1 BTC is a dateless plate that meets the above criteria. This crypto number plate is available to purchase from Regtransfers and is currently priced at £325,000. With only 3 characters and an obvious reference to Bitcoin, it is very likely that the value will steadily increase in the future. As mentioned by This is Money [1], if it were to sell for its asking price, this private number plate would rank as the 15th most expensive number plate purchased in the UK.

Endless investment opportunity

If you have an avid interest in both number plates and cryptocurrency, this crypto number plate could be perfect. It could serve as an advertising tool for your investment firm or service, as many businesses today utilise number plates as an offline promotion method. Perhaps, you’ve been inspired to invest and buy a number plate of your own. You can do so by simply searching on our website by entering your name or even the name of your favourite cryptocurrency.

The role of DVLA

Car registrations and number plates, including personalised number plates, in the UK, are the responsibility of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, usually known as the DVLA. It issues new registrations twice a year and also maintains the central database that records details of all vehicles licensed to drive on UK roads, along with their keeper and registration information.

Regtransfers works closely with DVLA to complete registration transfers as quickly and efficiently as possible. Regtransfers is a DVLA-registered supplier of personal car registrations and number plates and is listed on the DVLA Registrations website. All number plates supplied by Regtransfers comply with DVLA's prescribed standards and regulations.

DVLA administers all UK registration transfers and issues updated registration documents when the registration number of a car is changed, or when a registration is removed from a vehicle and placed on a retention document in accordance with the DVLA Retention Scheme.

DVLA is a registered trade mark of the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency. Regtransfers is not affiliated with the DVLA or DVLA Personalised Registrations. Regtransfers is a recognised reseller of unissued Government stock.

Number plate regulations

When a car is on the road, it is an offence to display number plates bearing any number other than the vehicle's officially recorded registration number. If you purchase a private registration, learn how to transfer private plates before displaying the new number.

All registration number plates displayed on UK vehicles must comply with the official number plate regulations. DVLA oversees enforcement of number plates display regulations and maintains a register of approved manufacturers and retailers of vehicle number plates.

Regtransfers is not part of, and is not formally affiliated with DVLA.
