Steven Saunders' SCS 1
Steve Saunders, from Camberley, Surrey, appeared in Issue 29 of The World of Personal Number Plates back in April 2012.
Steve has acquired more private registrations since his last appearance here, and he recently contacted us with an update on his growing plate collection. He begins by revisiting the story of his first plate purchase.
"In 1969, I spotted the registration numbers SCS 1 and SCS 7 for sale in The Times newspaper. SCS 1 was listed at a whopping £120 and SCS 7 was £40. Initially, I decided on SCS 7; then, luckily, common sense kicked in and I purchased SCS 1," he says. "It has been on eighteen of my cars and is currently on a Corvette C7 Z06, which is my fourth Corvette. As I am a member of The UK Classic Corvette Club, the number is well known on the American Car Scene. It appeared in a Corvette feature in Car magazine and the car was also displayed on the CCC Stand at The British Motor Show."
SCS 1, for Steven Charles Saunders, may have been where it all started, but that certainly wasn’t the end of Steve’s plate journey. What about those new additions?
"A1 SCS was purchased from Regtransfers and is currently on my Jaguar Super V8, which recently returned to the UK after spending fifteen years in Japan," says Steve. "SCS 1A was purchased in an online auction, and is currently on my Fiat 500."
Maybe we’ll get yet another update from Steve in a few years time. We look forward to it.
The above article appeared in Issue 58 of The World of Personal Number Plates, our very own free magazine.
