Like most men I’ve always been interested in cars. I’d never bought a personalised number plate before seeing BOW 11E, not that I hadn’t been interested, but I’d never come across a plate that particularly interested me.
I’ve been a fan of David Bowie for as long as I can remember. When my wife and I were discussing names for our first son I suggested the name Bowie, which was swiftly greeted with a rather loud NO!
After some discussion we finally agreed that if our son was born on 8th January (the same birthday as David Bowie) then we would call him Bowie. Lo and behold he was born on 8th January, so Bowie it was! That was just over five years ago now.
More recently, while looking through the Regtransfers.co.uk website, I found the BOW 11E number plate and just had to have it and immediately made an offer online. A young lady called Lianne called me back the same day and we agreed a price. I must say, the service was both efficient and professional and the certificate came through in just a couple of weeks.
Having bought the BOW 11E plate, we were compelled to get one for our other son – his name is Enzo. We decided to look through the Regtransfers website once again the same evening and came across ENZ 30. So we bought that one too! It was another young lady called Tracy who dealt with this sale and again the service was efficient and professional; both of which qualities I appreciate and ensure are practiced at my company.
I am the Managing Director of Hemel Hempstead based SJD Accountancy, which is currently the fastest growing accountancy firm in the UK and this year looks set to enter the list of top 50 accountancy firms. I started the firm on my own, way back in 1992, from the spare room in my house. Now, after 15 years of continual growth, we employ around 80 staff in 8 offices throughout the UK, and this year, projected turnover is £9m.
My family, friends and business colleagues all think the plates are great – especially BOW 11E. We are constantly having our photo taken when driving through London and invariably get lots of anticipated looks. The only trouble is people tend to be slightly disappointed when they see it isn’t David Bowie stepping out of the car.
