Bidding war for the only 1 UTD

SOCCER fans are set to join a bidding frenzy as the sporting world's most desirable car number plate goes up for auction tomorrow.

Lifelong Manchester United fan Charles Wright is expecting more than £100,000 for the magic registration, 1UTD.

Nightclub boss Charles, 67, bought it 30 years ago for. £1,000 and it now adorns his Jaguar XK8.

"I'm selling because I'm not getting any younger and I have a big family who are all United fans," said Charles.

"Deciding who gets the number could cause a problem one day."

Stuart Alien, direc­tor of Auto Identity Registration Auc­tions, which is organising the sale in Birmingham, said: "There has been a lot of interest shown in it already. It could fetch a lot of money." Anyone who miss­es out on the big one could bid for another registration in the same auction 3UTD, valued at a mere £30,000.
