Great Number Plates For Sale - 'JH 1'

Here is yet another example of a superb number one. It is part of own stock of over 10,000 top quality car registrations. We have always specialised in the best since we began back in 1982.

It is not quite as old as some of our other number ones, but these excellent initials were issued in 1931 by Hertfordshire CC, still making them over 70 years old. We often wonder what the history of these wonderful registrations is and are always keen to hear from anyone who can help out in this area. All we know about this one is that it is mentioned in one of the very first personal number plate books ever issued. The book is entitled “Car Number Galaxy – More Celebrities” and was compiled by Noel Woodall back in 1964. The book was the second in the series and contains many interesting number plates and at that time JH 1 was spotted on a car owned by Jacqueline Hylton of Sussex.

Although these initials are generally for someone’s first and last name there is no reason why they couldn’t represent the first and middle initials, such as John Henry. That’s not to forget that the number one could also represent a surname, in this case making it John Henry Ingram. It’s this use of the number one as the letter ‘I’ that makes the ultimate registration for someone whose surname begins with that letter. After checking our databases we found about 500 people with JHI as their initials.
