Miss Great Britain

Miss Great Britain's Prize on a Plate

Danielle Lloyd, recently crowned Miss Great Britain, received a striking set of personalised number plates on Friday 14th July as part of her Miss GB prize.

The personal registration M15 GBX ("Miss GB X") was presented to a delighted Danielle by prize sponsors Regtransfers.co.uk during an exclusive photo shoot at London's O2 Millennium Dome.

Another part of the Miss GB prize is a part in a Hollywood movie, so Danielle has her sights set on making an impression in the USA when she travels there to work.

Photographs from the Friday photo shoot will appear in a forthcoming issue of "Regtransfers.co.uk: The World of Personal Number Plates". Danielle will sport her new personalised registration number on her Audi A3.

M 1

World record price paid for number plate

A recent auction sale smashed the world record for the highest price ever paid for a personalised number plate.

At the sale held by Bonhams auctioneers at Goodwood on 7th July, the registration M 1 was purchased by an anonymous telephone bidder for a spectacular £331,500. The previous record was the £285,000 paid for VIP 1 just a few weeks earlier. The record for most expensive UK plate has been broken several times in the last 12 months: earlier in the year 51 NGH sold for £254,000, while GS 1 sold in Scotland for £258,775 at the end of July 2005.

The purchaser of M 1 is reportedly a businessman who bought it as a birthday present for his young son.

For some years the record holder was K1 NGS which sold for £231,000 in December 1993, but the sudden surge in the popularity of exclusive plates has now eclipsed that famous landmark.

A spokesman for leading registrations dealer Regtransfers.co.uk said: "These recent purchases reflect a general trend we are seeing across the board. More people are investing more money in their personal registrations. There are some great numbers still out there, so we expect more record breakers to hit the headlines soon!"
