Miss GB

Ex Miss GB's New Lease of Life

A few issues ago, we were delighted to celebrate with Danielle Lloyd when she won the title of Miss Great Britain. As part of her prize, Danielle accepted a personalised number plate from Regtransfers.co.uk, who were one of the event sponsors. Her registration, M15 GBX, was ‘shorthand’ for “Miss GB X”.

We were very sorry to hear that Danielle is no longer Miss GB. It seems that the contest organisers were unhappy with her relationship with one of the event judges. Although Danielle has explained that the problematic relationship only came about after the contest and the result were settled, there seems to have been sufficient doubt or misunderstanding on the part of the organisers for them to decide to relieve Danielle of the title.

Unfortunately, Miss GB X is now Ex-Miss GB. Perhaps her prize plate should have been M15 XGB after all.

Despite that small complication, Danielle is enjoying more exposure than ever, and is currently amongst the inhabitants of Channel 4’s Celebrity Big Brother house!

A Plate Way of Promoting their Identity

2006: The Sky Was the Limit for UK Plates!

We thought that 2005 was a good year for those who had invested in quality cherished number plates – but that was before 2006 came along and eclipsed all that had gone before.

GS 1 was sold in Scotland in Mid-2005 for £258,775: an outstanding price for an outstanding plate. We half expected the market to pause for a while in order to get its breath back after the excitement! If there was a pause, then it was a brief one as, within months, S1 NGH sold for £254,000 and gave 2006 the kick it needed to get rolling.

Before long, yet another terrific plate showed its pedigree. VIP 1 was eagerly snapped up, the customer paying £285,000 for a truly eye-catching registration. Once again, no time to catch one’s breath – hot on the heels of VIP 1 came the really big one. M 1 sold at auction for a fantastic £331,000, shattering UK records for personal registrations prices.

At least two other major contenders made very competitive appearances before the year was out: one fetching £260,000 and the other snapping closely at the heels of the record breaker by commanding a sale price of over £300,000. Sadly, customer confidentiality prevents us from listing those two registrations here.

As you can see, a new class of superstar number plates is emerging. Whereas it would previously have been hard work trying to find registrations that commanded prices of over £200,000, in 2006 we saw a whole fleet of them arriving like buses – none for ages, then lots all at once.

The bar has been raised, and the investment potential increased. At Regtransfers.co.uk, we can’t wait to see what can be achieved this year.
