Sir Ian Botham OBE fronts new magazine!

The archetypal English cricketer opens the batting for the latest edition of Regtransfers.co.uk - The World of Personal Number Plates - with an account of his perfect B33 FYS plate.

Younger readers may be more familiar with 'Beefy' Botham from his TV lamb and beef adverts and recent Shredded Wheat commercials.

Elsewhere in this 84-page, full colour, glossy publication, we look at the sheer resilience of registrations as an alternative investment in the uncertain economic climate.

This splendid read is completed, as usual, by some fascinating pictorial accounts of personal registrations from all over the country.

Flying the flag?

A resolution may finally be in sight concerning the confusion surrounding national flags on number plates.

Whilst the government's intention - some seven years ago now - was to permit the English, Scottish and Welsh emblems, the legislation has never been fully enacted.

Conservative District Councillor, Nick Bennett, is the latest to add his weight to mounting pressure, from both media and parliament alike, to end the anomaly.

It now seems likely that the regulations will finally be brought in line with the original brief.

What recourse may be available to motorists who have unwittingly fallen foul of this oversight, however, remains a subject of some considerable conjecture.
