As we have been reporting with some relief, the private number plates market has proved remarkably resilient in the face of significant economic unrest. Throughout the recession, the demand for quality car registrations has remained healthy and owners of good numbers have seen them retain their value. In some cases private registrations have surprised us all and performed better in auctions than anyone had dared hope.
At a recent sale, the number 1 OOO was listed with a reserve of £8000. When the hammer actually came down... Well, let's just say that the reserve proved to be somewhat conservative. All Change
2010 sees a minor change to the UK's car registrations. The format remains the same, but we leave behind the 0X and 5X date identifiers. The identifiers for this year are 10 beginning in March and 60 in September. Next year they will be 11 and 61; the following year 12 and 62, and so on.
The change brings new possibilities for personal number plates.
10 registrations include:
AL10 WED
SO10 MON
AL10 VER
SA10 ONS
BA10 NEY
HA10 GEN
BR10 CHE
60 plates will include:
PA60 DAS
LA60 ONS
BY60 NES
DU60 UTS
AN60 RAS
RA60 UTS
10 registrations have been available since December 2009, but they must not be used on the road until March 2010. 60 registrations will become available in June 2010 and may be displayed from September 2010.
