Manx plate goes for a cool 100K
The ultimate Manx number plate has fetched an amazing £100,000 at an auction in The Isle of Man.
A spokesman for the organisers of the event, at the Mount Murray Hotel just outside Douglas, commented, “I think everyone was about to fall off their chair in amazement”.
The number, which was from a collection owned by the late John Moore, sold to an anonymous bidder last Friday.
‘MN' prefix registrations were first issued in 1906 and pertain only to the island. MN 1, the very first in the series, was originally assigned to a steam-powered car belonging to a Mr George Drinkwater.
