West Ham Boss Attacked

West Ham United FC co-owner, David Gold, has told of a terrifying ordeal at the hands of mindless vandals.
The 73-year-old entrepreneur suffered what he describes as "'the most frightening experience of my football life" as he left the Aston Villa ground where his team had just lost 3-0.
As his Rolls-Royce at traffic signals, two men ran from a public house and hurled a beer bottle through the driver's window. They then proceeded to kick the vehicle in an attempt to get in the car, which is easily identifiable from its distinctive D6 OLD ['D Gold'] number plate.
"Thankfully, the doors lock when the engine is running otherwise we could have been in serious trouble," said a shocked Mr Gold.
Ironically, Mr Gold was delayed leaving the ground because he stopped to sign a programme for a disabled Aston Villa supporter, otherwise he would probably have escaped the ordeal.
A substantial reward may be offered for information leading to the apprehension of the culprits who caused an estimated £2000 worth of damage.
"I'm sure these lunatics attacked the car in part because I was once Birmingham City's chairman," surmised David. "It's a return to the bad, bad days of football."
