I Belong to Glasgow
Any proud Glaswegian with a few bob in his sporran could do worse than to invest in a great personal number plate, demonstrating allegiance to the Scottish second city.
The registration, GL08 GOW, is currently being offered for sale on an internet auction site. The starting price is an impressive £2500. The lot is described as "ideal for Glasgow businesses, taxi drivers, delivery drivers or private individuals."
The constituent '08' comes from the original year of issue, 2008. Whilst 'GL45 GOW' would be a better representation, you'd have to wait a long time before that possibility was realised, because the '45' registrations won't be available until 2045!
The first port of call for any self-respecting Scot looking for the perfect plate is, of course, www.regtransfers.co.uk, where the sophisticated search facility will easily find such gems as, SCO 715H, TAR 74N, SC07 MAC, SCO 7 and SC07 LAD.
The fiercely independent Scots were originally granted their own series of registrations, including the bulk of the extremely rare '0' series plates. You may wish to read our fascinating article which discusses this and other interesting stories:
