One potential taker would be councillor David J Archer, whose Mercedes CL500 already sports the registration 2 DJA. The plate originally adorned his green Bentley and he was happy to accept that it was definitely bought as a status symbol.

When quizzed about possible interest in E5 HER, Mr Archer seemed impressed."I imagine there will be someone in Esher who would pay that for it," he said.
