Criminal Mastermind's Number is Up!
The game's up for crime boss Craig Johnson and up for sale will go his collection of personal registrations, as the authorities try to recover some £26m in tax owed by Johnson, after they successfully foiled his multi-million pound mobile phone scam.
The master criminal is already serving 12 years in jail and has been ordered to pay the tax bill to avoid a further sentence.
As well as his eight-bedroomed Grade II-listed 17th century Staffordshire mansion - said to be worth £2.75 million - and his fleet of prestige cars, the receivers are also set to make a tidy sum from Johnson's personal vehicle registrations.
The plates to be sold to the highest bidder include: BA51 ERD, 1 DUX, W1 LKE, MA51 ERJ and 55 CJ - which is expected to fetch £40k alone - according to Richard Blackman from Smith Hodgkinson, who are organising the sale at an undisclosed venue near Stratford-upon-Avon.
HM Revenue and Custom spokesman, Robert Alder, reflected that; "A routine day in Johnson's world of crime would see him enjoy the very best in performance vehicles, top of the range watches and jewelry, helicopters and yachts and even a stately home in Staffordshire.
"This has all been taken away and as these items go under the hammer the cash raised will be reclaimed for the public purse."
