Fiat or Formula One? The choice is yours at forthcoming plate sale
Is is 'Fiat' or 'Formula One'? That's the question punters will have to decide when the bidding opens on a very special number plate.
Devotees of the much-loved but often maligned Italian car manufacturer, would do well to take notice of the registration F1 ATT, which comes up for sale next month. But, equally, any Formula One aficionado with the initials ATT might well jump at the chance of such a dream plate.
The latest in a series of DVLA public auctions will take place over the three days from Wednesday 5 th to Friday 7th August in Oxfordshire, where hundreds of highly distinctive and desirable number plates will go to the highest bidders.
The 'Fiat' plate commands a reserve of just £900. and, elsewhere, some great quirky numbers are sure to attract attention: BOW 71E and L1 CKS can be bought for a minimum of just £400 and £00 respectively.
However, some other plates are expected to fetch really serious money. For example, the stylish registrations 4 O and 6 W will not go for less than £8,000 a piece.
This particular auction has taken on a distinct Formula 1 racing theme: The venue itself is the RBS Williams F1 Conference Centre in Wantage and a large number of F1 plates are indeed available.. How about F1 BOS, F1 BUG, F1 GOV, F1 GUY, F1 HOT, F1 MAX or F1 SPY, for something really special on your car?
Whilst browsing or waiting for bidding to start on a particular item, visitors to the event will have free access to the priceless Williams Collection of Formula One racing cars, estimated to be the largest of its kind anywhere in the world.
"We've planned a Formula One feast" said the DVLA's Damian Lawson, adding that the F1 plates "barely scratch the surface of the motorsport-related registrations included in the 1,600 being offered."
