1 HRH tops £100k at auction

Star lot in the first day of the Whittlebury Hall registration auction in Northampton was 1 HRH, which went for £113, 815 including fees and charges).
The new owner placed his winning bid by phone and is currently unknown. Many people speculated that this highly prestigious plate would go to royalty but experts think this unlikely, given the security aspects involved. It could well be, however, that a foreign dignitary would find this mark irresistible.
The current DVLA auction runs until Friday and will feature many more great plates including 3 S and the intriguing 1 O, which has not been issued by the DVLA before now. The nature of this unusual and interesting item is likely to push the price well above it's £10,000 reserve.
The price-busting results we have been witnessing recently seem at odds with the effects of the uncertain economic situation and can only reinforce the investment potential of the cherished registrations market perceived by astute buyers.
