Private Number Plates Still Selling Well!
Credit crunches may come and go, but number plates remain as popular as ever.
Seriously, we don't want to make light of a situation that really does have people concerned, but the sale of 1 RH for £247,652 including tax and commission at an auction a few minutes ago really does cheer us up. The private number plates market remains healthy, which we would like to see as a sign that things may not be as bad as they're painted.
This significant sale continues the trend established by the sales of, among others, S 1 (£404,062), F 1 (£440,625) and 6 B (£130,000), all of which demonstrate the resilience of the private number plates market in the face of widespread financial uncertainty.
The sale of 1 RH eclipsed the performance of other lots which achieved prices that would otherwise have raised eyebrows in their own right. Amongst the respectable sales which, nevertheless, pale by comparison were CHR 151S (£13,974) and AYM 44N (£10,564).
1 RH was purchased by businessman Robert Harverson, formerly in the demolition industry, who now operates in the recruitment sector.
