Back to the Number Plates Grindstone
*Sigh*...
Sorry about the lapse in posting, but I have just had a week's holiday. Hard though it is to tear myself away from the riveting world of private number plates, I simply had to get away for a break before artistic burnout sapped my creative juices entirely.
With so much riding on my incredible breadth of talent (I carry the department, you know) it is my duty to keep myself fresh and inspired, so a week in Killarney, Ireland was just the thing.
Here's a little video Mrs Blogger shot to chronicle the cultural high point of the trip.
I have to say, although the Irish people are fantastic at many things (music and pubs spring to mind), they totally missed out on the personalised number plates thing when they devised their car registrations system. Their system begins with a two-digit year ID followed by a one- or two-letter regional ID and then a unique sequential number of up to 6 digits. For example, a Dublin registered vehicle from 2006 might bear a number such as 06-D-12345. Just try making a name or a word out of that lot!
For the thousands of you who now feel an overwhelming urge to read up in great detail about the Irish number plates system, may I recommend the Wikipedia entry on Irish number plates.
