Biggest Personalised Number Plates Fan in the World?

No, I don't mean that the chap is a giant, or anything silly like that. However, I couldn't be much more impressed if this fellow had turned out to be ten feet tall.

A while ago I posted about a gentleman who paid £3.5 million for the car registration "5" at an auction in the United Arab Emirates - you may have seen the full story over at www.numberplates.com. Well, at the next of those UAE sales, the same fellow bought the registration number "7" for about £1.5 million.

To be honest, I haven't researched what existing personalised number plates collections might be worth (and I mean private collections, not dealers' stock), but surely anyone who pays £5 million for two car registrations is more than just an enthusiast. Unless any of you know better, I nominate Mr Talal Al Khoury for the title of World's Biggest Private Number Plates Fan.

Kind of a shame you can't get just single digits over here, isn't it? I mean, even someone who doesn't take too much notice of number plates would surely take more than a passing glance at one of these...
