The Private Number Plates Police!
Well, to be honest I'm not sure if I saw the private number plates police in action this morning or not, but it could have been.
Regular readers (yes, I know, but there might be one or two...) will recall that we strongly advise compliance with the registration display regulations. If you get caught with dodgy plate you risk a fine and the permanent loss of your personal registration!
As I drove to the office this morning I saw a small hatchback that had been pulled over by a couple of officers in a police car. As I crawled past, in my very enjoyable queue of traffic, I saw the police and the young driver of the hatchback apparently discussing the car's rear number plate. I couldn't hear the conversation, but I could see that the characters on the plate were incorrectly spaced, and that a bolt or screw had been positioned in the bottom of the character "8". Forgive me if I spare the owner's embarrassment by not divulging the actual reg, but from the very obvious intended meaning of the registration, the placing of the bolt in the "8" had been an attempt to make it look something like an "A".
I don't know if that was why the lad had been pulled up, but it certainly seemed to be the point of conversation as I went by.
Please be careful. Don't risk your beloved registrations - or your wallets, for that matter.
If your car sports non-compliant plates, why not get them changed? If you give us a call on 01582 477333 we'll be happy to advise.
