Private Number Plates Blues
You remember Barry? Well, as well as his musical superstar status, Barry is famous for his advanced driving skills.
He and I live in neighbouring villages, and this morning as I was driving to the office I recognised Barry's car ahead of me on the road. Much as I expected, Barry was proceeding at a leisurely pace. In fact, he was proceeding at his customary 28 miles per hour. Now, that's ok with me. As long as I'm not late I can generally drive behind Barry quite happily for the short distance usually involved before an escape route crops up. However, when he slowed down to 15 miles per hour every time a car passed going the other way, I could suddenly see why some people might consider his progress to be a little on the slow side - even for a country lane.
I used to think that Barry was oblivious to the chaos that surrounds him, but this morning he confessed that he is not only aware of the cars that queue behind him, he actually collects them, and regularly tries to accumulate a longer convoy than he has ever managed before.
Anyway, Below is an opportunity for you to enjoy just a hint of the fretboard virtuosity of Barry Monks. It isn't actually Private Number Plate Blues as advertised in the post title (as there is no such song, so far as we are aware). Instead we offer a rather inept and garbled snippet of Nobody Knows You.
The "rhythm" guitar player on the right of the picture (the one with no sense of rhythm) would like to blame the poor quality on Youtube. The truth of the matter is that the poor quality is due to his inability to remember the chords...
You may need to pump up the volume a bit. The sound level of the uploaded video might be a bit low.
So, enjoy a laugh at our expense.
