Personalised Number Plates to REALLY Cherish...

Young Adam (you remember him, the kid we featured in this employee profile) over at Numberplates.com has just posted a news story about a truly spectacular number plates purchase.

If you'd like to pop over and read the story you'll see that it is really quite a curious tale. The buyer of a United Arab Emirates car registration which reads simply "5" has paid what we believe to be the highest price ever paid for a car registration, anywhere in the world.

What strikes me as the most extraordinary thing is that the purchaser claims that the registration means nothing to him. If that were true, then why on earth would he pay three and a half million quid for it?
